The Principle of Order

The methods and operations of God as recorded in scripture are not given to us just so when can read of them and know that those things actually did happen. The ways and doings of God have kingdom principles that should be understood and practised in order to have kingdom results. So many good people, even God’s own children are lost in one area of life or the other and have no real direction or understanding of scriptures and how to get kingdom results because whenever they study their Bibles, all they see are stories that are indeed wonderful to read. Remember the kingdom of God works by principles, sometimes those principles are referred to as keys. Having an understanding of the various keys or principles of the kingdom and putting them to work is what makes a difference in any area of life where you desire a change. These keys can only be revealed by the Lord who is the Holy Spirit. Without His breathing on the Word, all that you read and hear may not make any more meaning than stories. That said, one very important principle that must be understood and practised to see kingdom results on earth and in our lives is the principle of order.  In considering the first chapter of the Bible, we see God doing a lot of things. A closer look and understanding from the Holy Ghost will give us insight into one very vital key of the kingdom as used by the LORD in the creation of the universe. Order is in itself one of the attributes of God’s presence. Disorder or confusion, on the other hand, is one proof of the Devil’s manifestations. Where there is no order, there is disorder. And where there is disorder there is confusion. In the first book of Corinthians, we read in clear terms that God is not the author or source of confusion.

1 Corinthians 14:33

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

This implies that whenever we see any form of confusion, it is not God who initiated it or who is at work in the midst of it. Who then? The devil of course. So we know that it is God’s will for things to be in order wherever His presence is manifest. Let’s go now to Genesis and take a closer look at why the Principle of Order is important and how it works in the kingdom.

Genesis 1:2-12, 20-21, 24 (KJV)

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called He Seas: and God saw that it was good.

And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

In the second verse, we are told of the state of the earth with regards to three aspects before God spoke.

  • it was formless
  • it was empty or void
  • it was covered with darkness.

But most important than all these three negative connotations is the fact that the Spirit of God hovered over this seemingly hopeless situation. God was about to bring about His creation and purposes on the earth but first, He placed things in order. The verses that follow show us the steps He took to put things in order and call for our emulation of the same.  Before we get into the steps of creating order, I would like you to take note that out of the earth which we are told was empty in verse two, God called forth creatures in verse 24. However, between verse two and 24, we see God busy, creating order. What makes the difference most times is not the absence of ability or potentials but the absence of order which is necessary for seeing potentials manifest. Now let’s see God’s steps and methods of creating order.

First, God called forth the Light.

Light is the first requirement for the creation and maintenance of order in all areas of life. Even the Christian who once lived in darkness and disorder had to have God’s light shine upon him or her before God could bring order into that life through the miracle of being born again.

Ephesians 5:8 (KJV)

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

When God wants to make something out of the life of someone, the first thing He does is to bring order in that life. God commanded the light and there was light. Light speaks of assurance to be directed. Whoever works in darkness cannot perform well, but when the light comes, there is assurance and direction, making all things possible.

Then the Spirit moved

The Spirit of God is His ability to bring about order. Without the Spirit of God, even the light of His word may not assist us in accomplishing anything tangible because all things are done by the might of God’s spirit.

The spoken word of God

The earth was made to be dominated by man. Everything on earth that is created by God should be subject to man, but this can only be so when man understands the codes of God’s word that controls the physical and speaks them out. In the book of Ezekiel, we read of the prophet’s vision of a valley of dry bones and in the midst of it, he could hear God Command Him to prophesy to the situation. As he did so, those bones began to come into alignment and order according to the command that went forth from the mouth of the prophet. Those who will bring order and maintain it in their lives must learn and apply the power of God’s spoken word. don’t let things go wild and disorderly in life. The word of God is near you, it is even in your mouth, but the power it holds will not be released until you speak it out. That is how you became born again and that is one way of releasing the power of God to establish order on earth. Cultivate the habit of speaking the word and the Spirit of God will move at the mention of the Word to bring what you say to fulfilment.

The importance of Separation

Not many Christians understand the reason or importance of separation as commanded by the Father. Many endeavour to practice it but they hardly know why or how they should so their efforts are hampered. You see, there is a definite line between truth and falsehood, darkness and light in the realms of the Spirit. When we look at the way some things happen in the physical, one may be tempted to think that that line of separation has been taken off. But the scriptures tell us otherwise. Everyone who lives on earth falls under one of two natures, kingdoms or fatherhood. It is either you are of righteousness or sin, of the kingdom of light or the kingdom of darkness and it is either God is your Father or the devil is. These two are antagonistic to each order and very distinct in their likeness and dealings. Thinking that you can dabble between the two is a sign of deception and it only leaves your life in total disorder and on dangerous grounds. The Lord repeatedly tells His children to be separate from the devil and his ways or dealings of His children. One clear example is,

2Corinthians 6:14-15

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?

If the two sides mentioned in the passage of scripture above have to mix together, there would be serious confusion because they have nothing in common. Summarily, those who want to create order in their lives must learn and apply the principle of separation.

Rightly naming things

Confusion sets in when people begin to name things wrongly. Naming things wrongly or not naming them at all is a sign of confusion and it will invariably lead to disorder. For example, there is a phenomenon called kleptomania by scientist which somehow brings confusion concerning the issue of stealing with regards to sin and the operations of darkness. This idea or conception suggests that when a person has an uncontrollable urge to steal, regardless of need or profit, he or she has a psychiatric or impulse control disorder. This is clearly a situation of evil spiritual manifestation that should be dealt with. But as you should suppose, it is difficult to deal with such a thing when people give it a scientific name that confines it to scientific and psychological studies. The same thing applies to those who mingle with the things of darkness and yet confesses to belong to God and His Christ. To this, the Lord has this to say.

2 Corinthians 6:17

therefore, come out from them and be separate, says the Lord…

and

2 Timothy 2:19

Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are His, and Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness”

God called light day and the darkness night. They could not have the same name. For order to be established, things must be a called as they are. There is white, black and grey which is a mixture of the two but if we must have and maintain order, it can only be either white or black.

Principle of demarcation

In the body of Christ, God in His infinite wisdom has set some in authority to guide and govern the church. They are God’s instruments of order and must be regarded as such. In verse 6 of Genesis chapter one, we see God calling forth a firmament to separate what the Bible in this verse calls the “waters”. In verse one we are told of a body of water that covered the face of the earth but later we see that God could make a distinction between waters and waters. He sets one above and another beneath with an expanse to separate them. There is a great need for order in the Church but that cannot be realised if those who are placed in the governing offices of the church are not given the honour and respect the office deserves and demands. Christians must learn to follow orders that establish order in the church as expressed in God’s word and enforced by His ministers. A life or church without order will always look like a life void of potentials. It will appear as though there are no gifts or abilities until order is established. These are the highways to creating order in the body of Christ. Both on a personal and general level. Make up your mind to bring every aspect of your life to order so that the potentials that God has invested in you could be fully manifested.
