But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
John 19:34 (KJV)
The above scripture is from the account of the apostle John concerning the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. It is important to note that whatever was recorded in scripture is for our edification. Why would the scripture record that blood and water came out from his side? This is because of the power and the blessings in the blood of Jesus. Below are some of the blessings that have been made available to all who would believe in the wonder working blood of Jesus Christ.
1. The blood of Jesus delivers from sin
For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Matt 26:28 (KJV)
There is no sin that the blood of Jesus cannot cleanse. God speaking in Isaiah chapter 1:18 says Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. What takes away the sins of the believer in Christ Jesus is the blood of Jesus. No matter the magnitude of sin, guilt and shame in your life, the blood of Jesus is powerful enough to remove them all. In Christ Jesus, we have received redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins (Colossians 1:14).
2. The blood of Jesus preserves
Through faith he kept the Passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
Heb 11:28 (KJV)
From the above scripture we understand that what preserved the children of Israel on the night where the spirit of death slew the first-born sons and beast of Egypt was the blood of the lambs applied at their door post. God himself told them that when He sees the blood, He will pass over them, and the plague shall not be upon them to destroy them, when He smite the land of Egypt (Exodus 12:13, KJV).
This is what happens to the believer in Christ Jesus. You are preserved from evil and destructions by the power in the blood of Jesus! Only believe! Hallelujah!
3. The blood of Jesus heals and has life-giving power
Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:54 (KJV)
Speaking of the last supper while using the elements of wine and bread for His blood and body respectively, Jesus makes mention that these have the power to give the eater eternal life. The life of Christ Jesus in the believer swallows up disease, death and corruption. The Bible says the life of the flesh is in the blood (Leviticus 17:14). No wonder Jesus speaking says when you eat His flesh and drink His blood you will have life. Through the blood of Jesus, you the believer have been made free from sicknesses and corruption. When you partake of the body and blood of Jesus Christ in the Lords supper you receive the very life of God into your body. This heals your body of diseases some of which you do not know about.
4. The blood gives us access into the presence of God
Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
Heb 10:19-20 (KJV)
Through the blood of Jesus Christ, the believer has been granted access into the holiest of God. This means you can now walk in the manifest presence of God without any limitations. The question many Christians always ask is ‘what happens when I sin and go against God? Well the answer is found in the Word of God. The bible says when we sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Messiah (1 John 2:1). When you sin receive forgiveness of your sin by repenting and acknowledging the blood of Jesus Christ.
5. We overcome Satan by the blood of Jesus
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony;
Rev 12:10-11 KJV
Satan is the accuser of the brethren. He is the one who seeks to speak thoughts contrary to the word of God in your mind and before the courts of heaven. This brings to remembrance the case in the book of Zachariah where Satan stood before God accusing Joshua the high priest before the Lord (Zachariah 3). The LORD rebuked Satan. In your life as a Christian, there are times where Satan would seek to bring thoughts of defeat, shame of the pass and guilt into your mind. You need to understand that you have overcome by the blood of Jesus. What that means is that you are legally free from the accusations of Satan. You must stand on the authority of this word and speak against every thought opposite to the word of God in your life. Resist Satan from today by the blood of Jesus and He will flee away from you.
These are some of the pertinent blessings of the blood of Jesus Christ. Beloved, God loves you so much. That is the reason why Jesus came. To demonstrate the love of God by dying and shedding His blood for your sins. If you will like to receive the Lord Jesus Christ into your life and to receive forgiveness from sin, I will like you to heartily make the following prayer.
